You are right about this list being applicable to other professions. The very nature of blogs is that they are immediate and not premeditated. As a result, they don't really represent the depth a conversation would provide and are always one-sided.
There are plenty of lists out there that basically have the same information, just from someone else's point of view. When I decided to write my own, it was only after writing a list of the reasons why you should be an architect first. Hopefully you will read that post as well.

A majority of the projects I develop are private residences but my firm also specializes in the design of fire stations and retail environments. In 2009 I received the American Institute of Architects "Young Architect of the Year" award (but it was probably for doing things that would cause others to think twice). Life is good.
Um, sounds like any other professional job, and the 10 reasons to do it, too.
